xBar for Windows - Releases

Tuesday, November 18th, 2025 @6:50AM,   Releases

The latest update to xBar for Windows focuses on making startup more reliable, allowing offline operation, and fixing a usability issue in the Shortcuts Widget. Users will notice smoother launch behavior, even after cold boots or system updates, and improved consistency when creating or editing shortcuts.

What's New in Version 2.0.2511.16:

  • Improved Startup Reliability: The previous helper launcher (XBStart.exe) has been removed. Its system-readiness checks are now built directly into xBar, ensuring consistent startup behavior across cold boots, restarts, and post-update reboots. These checks verify that Windows has fully initialized the desktop, shell, input system, and related services before xBar begins—important because Windows often loads components in parallel, even after the desktop appears.
  • Network No Longer Required at Launch: xBar now starts normally even when no internet connection is available.
  • Shortcuts Widget Fix: Corrected an issue where pasting a file or folder path into a shortcut entry did not enable the Icon button.

A single end-user license (includes two installs) is available for just $9.95. You can try xBar for FREE with a fully functional, nag-screen-free 30-day trial—no registration required. Updates and upgrades are free for registered users.
