Thursday, April 24th, 2025 @6:51AM, Releases
The latest release of xBar for Windows introduces updates that improve interaction with the Windows desktop and Taskbar, enhance startup performance, and refine visual presentation. This version also better aligns with system theme settings on first launch and simplifies theme selection going forward.
What's New in Version 2.0.2504.23:
- Windows Light Mode Support – On first run, xBar detects your Windows Light or Dark mode setting and selects a matching theme automatically. You can still choose from 22 predefined theme colors at any time. Renamed "Black Theme – Default" to "Windows Dark Mode".
- Faster & Cleaner Startup – Startup, shutdown, and file drag/drop responsiveness have all improved thanks to optimized background threads and cleaner thread signaling.
- Smoother Desktop & Taskbar Interaction – Improved integration with the Windows Desktop and Taskbar, especially when using auto-hide features.
- Simplified Color Options – Removed the legacy “Custom Colors” option for a cleaner experience.
- Visual Polish – Reduced flicker and improved spacing make the UI feel more refined and modern. Popup menus and comboboxes also paint more cleanly.
- Help File Updated – Reflects changes to theme names, color options, and updated internal functionality.
